Casa Terra

Casa Terra is a monolithic contemporary house of sand-ochre lime render, its earthen volumes seeming to grow straight from the dry-stone terraces that hold the hillside. Clay-toned walls, soft-edged and almost geological, settle among olive and almond trees and low aromatic scrub, with the sea opening quietly in the distance. The house reads as another course of the terraced land, only inhabited.

A deep, shaded porch runs along the living spaces, holding cool shadow against the warm stone through the long afternoons, while a stone-edged pool rests on the lower terrace facing the water. The whole palette is drawn from the ground it sits on — clay-colored plaster, dry stone, natural timber — nothing imported, nothing bright. It is a house that belongs entirely to its place: earthbound, warm and still.
